TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Thousands of joint personnel from the Greater Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and district sector police departments have been mobilized to secure the demonstration at the National Monument (Monas) area on Friday, July 17, 2026. Central police public relations chief First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri stated that 4,132 personnel have been deployed to secure the Central Jakarta district.

"4,132 personnel are being deployed for security in the Central Jakarta area," Erlyn said when contacted via WhatsApp message on Friday.

Erlyn noted that officers would be stationed at several key locations, though she declined to specify the exact spots. According to Sumantri, the protest is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 p.m. A coalition of Student Executive Boards (BEM) from various universities is organizing the rally.

According to a report by news agency Antara, the Alliance of the People's Struggle Council (MPA) is spearheading today's demonstration. The alliance comprises the student bodies of Jakarta State University (UNJ), Trilogi University, STIAMI Institute, and Paramadina University.

The UNJ Student Executive Board issued a call to national action through its official Instagram account, @bemunj_official. They captioned the mobilization as a "Motion of No Confidence in the Prabowo-Gibran Regime."

The UNJ student body scheduled the demonstration to commence at 11:00 a.m. The crowd is set to gather on campus before marching to the main protest site at the Horse Statue area near Monas in Central Jakarta.

In its social media post, the UNJ Student Executive Board declared that Indonesian society has reached a breaking point regarding the trajectory of the nation's leadership. "Social inequality, the erosion of civil sovereignty, and crises across various sectors prove that public trust in the Prabowo-Gibran Red and White Cabinet is questionable," the post read.
