How Far Will Rp1 Minimum Share Price Impact the Market? IDX Explains

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) will remove its long-standing Rp50 minimum share price floor for a new Rp1 baseline starting September 28, 2026.  This decision will bear limited impact on the market, assured IDX Development Director Iding Pardi.

According to IDX data, share transactions priced below Rp50 are insignificant, with minimum impact even if there is selling pressure on one of the low-priced stocks. "Even if the floor price is lifted and transactions occur, the impact on the market will hopefully be limited," he told reporters at the IDX Building on Friday, September 18, 2026.

The IDX hopes to improve price discovery by removing the Rp50 minimum share price, according to Iding, citing companies whose share prices stuck at Rp50 despite falling lower than that due to the base price. 

Iding stated that the removal of the share price restriction was the IDX's initiative, and not at the request of Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI). "This is purely the IDX and OJK's initiative in accordance with international best practices," he said.

Hasan Fawzi, Chief Executive of the Capital Market, Financial Derivatives, and Carbon Exchange Supervision at the Financial Services Authority (OJK), stated that his agency advised the IDX to remove the minimum share price limit.

"In an effort to create liquidity and a fair price formation mechanism, the OJK advises the Indonesia Stock Exchange to adjust its regulations by preparing to change its minimum share price limit on the regular and cash markets from the Rp50 to Rp1," Hasan said in an online press conference on Monday, September 7, 2026.
