She also mentioned that the making of the outfit took up to 250 hours.

According to Bhavitha, her appearance at the Met Gala wasn't just about fashion; it was about reviving important memories from her life.

"Turning it into something reimagined for the Met felt like carrying that memory forward, but in a more elevated way that still respects the original spirit and the theme of the evening," she stated.

The Chanel model also shared personal reflections on her career journey in the fashion world. "I think some things aren't meant to be understood, they're meant to be felt," Bhavitha said.

She continued, "What I know is that the subway wasn't a backdrop for my story, it was the story."

Never Dreamed of Becoming a Model

In an interview with PEOPLE at the beginning of 2026, Bhavitha admitted that she never imagined herself becoming an international runway model.

She had been offered modeling gigs in her hometown several times, but she was never truly interested in pursuing them. Bhavitha chose an academic path because it felt safer and more stable.

Now, her career is rapidly expanding, making her a new representation for South Asian women in the global fashion industry.
