Prabowo Visits New Homes for Senen Railway Trackside Residents

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto visited residents who previously lived along the railway tracks near Senen Station at their new housing complex in Jakarta on Friday evening.

“Tonight, I met residents at their new homes. They previously lived along the railway tracks near Senen Station, Jakarta,” Prabowo wrote in a post on his official social media account, as quoted in Jakarta on Friday.

“Hopefully, this new home will be a more decent, safe, and comfortable place to live for all the families,” he added.

In the post, Prabowo was seen speaking with several residents and looking inside the new housing units.

The visit came several months after Prabowo instructed officials to provide housing for residents living in inadequate conditions along the railway tracks in the Senen area of Jakarta.

Prabowo made an unannounced visit to the settlement on March 26, 2026.

During the visit, he was informed that residents had lived along the railway tracks for decades, with limited housing conditions and inadequate roofing.

State-owned enterprise (SOE) PT Hutama Karya (Persero) subsequently carried out the construction of 324 housing units and supporting facilities on approximately 1.61 hectares of land owned by InJourney Airports.

The Senen housing complex was designed as temporary housing, with each unit measuring approximately 4.5 by 4.5 meters. The units are equipped with beds, wardrobes, and other basic facilities.

The government and SOEs also provided communal facilities, including a residents’ gathering area, a shared kitchen, a washing area, separate toilets for men and women, open spaces, and a children’s playground. The complex also has a lighting system, a single-gate access system for entry and exit, and CCTV cameras.
