TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national team has announced the list of 23 players for the upcoming FIFA Matchday in June 2026. The John Herdman squad is scheduled to take on Oman on June 5 and Mozambique on June 9, 2026, at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta.
The announcement of the squad has drawn attention to several notable absences, most notably that of team captain Jay Idzes, who will be sitting out due to a heel injury. In his place, the coach has called up young defender Mathew Baker, who has mostly played in the youth ranks until now.
In addition to Jay Idzes, some names that have been regulars in the Garuda squad are also absent from the current list of players. These include Jordi Amat, Eliano Reijnders, and Tim Geypens. This decision is seen as part of the team's rejuvenation and adjustment of the squad composition ahead of the two international matches.
Meanwhile, several diaspora players based in Europe have started arriving in Jakarta to join the training camp. Two of them are Kevin Diks and Emil Audero. On the Indonesian national team official account, the latest video shows the arrivals of the Borussia Mnchengladbach and Cremonese players. "June training camp," wrote the Indonesian national team Instagram account on Sunday, June 1, 2026.
Herdman has not yet finalized the squad to face Oman and Mozambique. However, Kevin Diks and Emil Audero have the opportunity to increase their appearances for the national team after being included in the list of players prepared for the FIFA Matchday.
Kevin had an impressive season with Borussia Monchengladbach. In his debut season in the German league, the 29-year-old defender scored five goals in 30 matches and helped his club finish 12th in the standings with 38 points.
Meanwhile, Emil Audero consistently performed with Cremonese in the Italian league. The 29-year-old goalkeeper only missed four out of a total of 38 league matches. He recorded 11 clean sheets, although he failed to help his team stay in Serie A.
In addition to Kevin and Emil, another diaspora player who has arrived in Jakarta is Ragnar Oratmangoen from Dender and Ole Romeny from Oxford United. Three players competing in the Indonesian Super League have also joined the camp, namely Ivar Jenner, Rizky Ridho, and Beckham Putra.
In the video uploaded by the national team, Rizky Ridho and Beckham Putra can be seen greeting the supporters. "Hello Garuda fans, we're back," said Ridho.
The matches against Oman and Mozambique will take place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium starting at 8 p.m. Indonesian time. The Indonesian national team will first face Oman on Friday, June 5, 2026, before hosting Mozambique four days later.
