TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police recently uncovered a case involving the theft of Lululemon bags with total losses exceeding Rp1 billion. Three suspects, identified by the initials RR (alias K), AD, and FCS, were arrested for allegedly operating the theft scheme from 2024 to 2026.
"The suspects were arrested in connection with the theft and hoarding of Lululemon bags," said Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Commissioner Wisnu Wardana on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
According to Wisnu, the three suspects, who were part of a cargo theft syndicate, were apprehended in the Karawaci area of Tangerang City on April 29, 2026. Wisnu stated that the thefts, spanning two years, resulted in a loss of over Rp1 billion for the export company PT Pungkook Indonesia One.
Police have charged the perpetrators under Article 477 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding organized theft. The suspects face a maximum sentence of nine years in prison.
The investigation into the stolen Lululemon bags began after the company noticed a consistent shortage in shipments exported to Shanghai. The company officially reported the incident to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police on April 27, 2026.
"The victim in this case is PT Pungkook Indonesia One, located in Grobogan, Central Java," said Commissioner Yandri Mono, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police.
The company had previously sent 4,749 Lululemon bags from Grobogan to Shanghai, China, via Garuda Indonesia cargo on April 10, 2026. The shipment arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on April 13, 2026, ahead of its scheduled departure to Shanghai on Garuda Indonesia flight GA 0894 on April 14, 2026.
The theft is suspected to have occurred in the parking area of the Soewarna Warehouse at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Monday, April 13, 2026, at approximately 15:30 Jakarta time. By April 20, 2026, the company received notification from a customer in Shanghai that 108 bags worth Rp213 million were missing.
Through investigations and CCTV footage from the RA BST and Soewarna Warehouse areas, police discovered that 40 cartons out of a total of 512 were deliberately separated during the X-ray inspection process. Yandri revealed that the three suspects performed specific roles in the recurring thefts.
Suspect F was responsible for ensuring the 40 cartons were separated from the inspection and loaded into a box truck. Meanwhile, RR acted as the mastermind and executor. "He worked in the export operations team at a company within Soekarno-Hatta Airport," Yandri said. AD assisted in the execution of the crime.
Based on the investigation, Yandri stated that 80 stolen bags were sold to a receiver, identified as BO, for Rp300,000 each. The investigation further revealed that these thefts had occurred multiple times between 2024 and 2026. The suspects admitted to investigators that they had carried out the actions at least three times.
"Even though the quantity [per action] was small, they did it very frequently, and it was never reported," Yandri said.
As a result of the systematic thefts over a two-year period, PT Pungkook Indonesia One suffered losses exceeding Rp1 billion. Police seized evidence, including export documents, CCTV recordings, flight manifest data for GA 0894, cargo weighing documents, RR’s Toyota Avanza, and an Isuzu box truck used to transport the stolen goods.
