TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo confirmed on Monday that construction of the LRT Jakarta line connecting Kelapa Gading to Manggarai is 100 percent complete. The line is now fully prepared for operational launch and awaits formal inauguration by President Prabowo Subianto.

Following a final pre-inauguration inspection at Manggarai LRT Station alongside City Hall officials, Pramono stated that overall infrastructure, including the elevated tracks and rail systems, is finished. The Ministry of Transportation is currently conducting final system testing on behalf of the central government.

"Earlier, I, along with City Hall staff, conducted a final inspection before the inauguration. We observed and received reports that overall, the construction and completion of this LRT, including the rails and elevated tracks, is 100 percent complete," Pramono said.

The Jakarta Provincial Government proposed holding the official opening ceremony on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. However, Pramono noted that the schedule remains flexible to accommodate President Prabowo's agenda as the head of state oversees emergency responses to the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) earthquake and forest fires in Kalimantan.

"The time will of course depend on President Prabowo Subianto's schedule, whether it's morning, afternoon, or another day, because he is currently handling forest fires and the earthquake in NTT," he said, adding that event protocols will strictly reflect the president's personal attendance.

During its initial operational phase running through October 2026, the route will maintain a flat promotional fare of Rp5,000. City officials will review ticket pricing after this transition period, with Pramono hinting at potential special discounts while confirming that 15 targeted groups in Jakarta will retain free access to the transit network.

"So, for the time being, until October, the fare will still be the current flat rate of Rp5,000," Pramono explained, hoping that the new service will strengthen public transit and become a preferred option for city commuters.

City projections estimate the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai line will carry up to 80,000 passengers daily during early operations. The provincial government plans to expand the network further once launched, connecting Velodrome to the Whoosh high-speed rail hub and linking Kelapa Gading to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), before eventually extending toward Dukuh Atas.

"We will immediately continue from Velodrome to Whoosh, then from Kelapa Gading to JIS," Pramono said, outlining a expansion plan intended to establish the municipally managed LRT as a primary transit backbone spanning East, North, South, and Central Jakarta.
