TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police has assured that conditions across the capital remain safe and orderly, noting that residents are carrying out their daily routines as usual.

"We urge all residents to remain calm, as the situation in Jakarta remains safe and conducive," said Jakarta Metro Police Chief of Public Relations Sr. Comr. Budi Hermanto in Jakarta on Monday, August 24.

He noted that this safe and conducive situation is reflected in how routine public activities continue to proceed uninterrupted.

Jakarta Metro Police received official notice regarding demonstrations planned for Thursday, August 27, by two groups near the House of Representatives (DPR) building. Each organization is expected to field between 100 and 200 demonstrators.

The two groups organizing the rallies, the Red and White Brigade (Brimob Merah Putih) and the Bogor Raya Three Pillars of Democracy Alliance (Aliansi Tiga Pilar Bogor Raya), are mounting protests centered on the Asset Confiscation Bill.

According to Budi, police handle routine notifications for 40 to 80 demonstrations across the city every day. On Monday alone, 71 separate rallies took place at multiple points, including the DPR complex, several ministry offices, and the South Jakarta District Court.

"There were 16 public events today, such as music concerts to National Jamborees and other local community gatherings. We are providing security services through Jakarta Metro Police and precinct offices," Budi added.

The Jakarta Metro Police are continuing to monitor public notifications concerning the planned protests on Thursday, August 27. Officers will hold a tactical coordination meeting to prepare security measures tailored to local conditions, ensuring the rallies remain peaceful, orderly, and well-managed.

Budi explained that traffic diversions will remain situational, with adjustments ready to be deployed if crowd sizes expand. "Our priority is to safeguard the interests of the broader public. There are two groups of people: those who will be protesting and those carrying out routine activities," he said.
