NTT Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 103

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) recorded 103 fatalities due to the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. This number has increased from the previous day.

"There has been an addition of three deceased. Making it a total of 103 people," said the Acting Head of Data, Information, and Communication Center of BNPB, Berton SP Panjaitan, during a press conference on BNPB's YouTube channel on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

The highest number of fatalities occurred in Manggarai Regency with 41 deaths, followed by East Manggarai with 34 deaths. Berton stated that the majority of the deceased were female, accounting for 55 percent, while males accounted for 45 percent.

When categorized by age group, the elderly constituted 45 percent of the fatalities, adults 37 percent, children and adolescents 12 percent, and the rest were toddlers.

There are also 63 additional injured victims, bringing the total to 1,666 people. The highest number of injured victims is in the East Manggarai region, with 239 severely injured and 404 lightly injured. "This is followed by the Manggarai Regency, with 58 severely injured and 474 lightly injured," stated Berton.

Meanwhile, the number of refugees increased by 4,804, bringing the total to 185,113. The refugees are spread across Manggarai, Nagekeo, East Manggarai, West Manggarai, Sika, Ende, Daun, and Ngada.
