Prabowo Praises Polri Achievements in Food Sector at Corn Harvest

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said he was proud to see the achievements of the Indonesian National Police (Polri). The president expressed his feelings during the corn harvest festival. At the same time, the head of state launched the Polri food warehouse and free nutritious meal (MBG) kitchen in Tuban, East Java, on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Prabowo assessed the Polri success in the food sector as inseparable from the leadership of the Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. "If it's good, we have to admit it's good, and in an organization, if the organization is good, it means the leader is good. Right?" he said in Tuban as reported by the Presidential Secretariat.

The Gerindra Party chair compared Polri to a football team. Prabowo said that if Polri were a football team, Sigit, as the coach, would continue to receive awards in the form of contract extensions for achieving victories.

He cited Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman who was awarded the Order of Distinguished Stars (Bintang Jasa Utama) for food self-sufficiency. Prabowo then said that Polri also excelled and the Police Chief deserved the Star of Mahaputera (Bintang Mahaputera).

"It turns out that I see Polri is excelling. Has the National Police Chief ever received the Bintang Mahaputera? Not yet, right? Later, President Prabowo will present the award," said the former defense minister.

Prabowo also asked for the same award for the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto. He said that leaders of state institutions who succeed should be recognized. "The TNI Commander, too? Haven't you received it yet? President Prabowo wants to confer it," he said.

The former Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve compared it to the military tradition. If they succeed in their mission, the soldiers and their commanders can receive awards. Conversely, if they fail, they can be removed.

He also praised Polri for successfully implementing the MBG program. "This is where I see that Listyo Sigit succeeded, how about that? What should I say, right? I think MBG is great, very clean, orderly. This is not about praising. I'm stingy when it comes to giving awards. But I want to be objective," he said.
