TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to inaugurate the Marsinah Museum and Resting House in Nganjuk Regency, East Java, on Saturday, May 16, 2026, as part of a visit highlighting labor history and rural economic programs.

Following the inauguration, Prabowo is also set to launch 1,061 Red and White Village Cooperatives across East Java and Central Java in a ceremony centered in Nganjuk.

The plan was announced by Colonel Untoro Hariyanto, commander of the 081/Dhirotsaha Jaya Military Resort, during a coordination meeting attended by Nganjuk Regent Marhaen Djumadi, Vice Regent Trihandy Cahyo Saputro, and officials from the Presidential Palace protocol office, the Presidential Military Secretariat, the Indonesian Military, and the National Police.

Untoro said the meeting was aimed at ensuring operational readiness before the president’s visit, covering preparations before, during, and after the event.

“The President is scheduled to arrive in Nganjuk on May 16, 2026. The agenda includes inaugurating the Marsinah Museum and Resting House, followed by the launch of the Red and White Village Cooperatives centered in Nglawak Village, Kertosono district,” he said on Friday, May 15, as quoted by the official Nganjuk regency website.

Marsinah was a prominent Indonesian labor activist who was killed in 1993 after leading workers’ protests during the final years of former president Suharto’s rule. She later became a symbol of Indonesia’s labor rights movement.

Regent Marhaen Djumadi said the local administration was fully prepared to support the presidential visit by mobilizing agencies including the transportation office, police, and environmental agency.

“We will provide maximum support to ensure the President’s activities run smoothly and securely,” he said.

Vice Regent Trihandy Cahyo Saputro added that local authorities had also deployed firefighters, traffic officers, and public order personnel at strategic locations, including helicopter landing sites at Nganjuk Stadium and Kertosono Stadium.

He said the local health office had prepared emergency treatment facilities, including mini intensive care units, to support the event.

Prabowo first announced plans to inaugurate the Marsinah Museum during a speech at Indonesia’s International Labor Day commemoration at the National Monument in Jakarta on May 1.

“This month, I will travel to Nganjuk, East Java, to inaugurate a labor struggle museum named the Marsinah Museum,” Prabowo said at the time.

Separately, Ferry Juliantono said the government would officially begin the symbolic launch of 1,061 operational Red and White Village Cooperatives on May 16.

According to Ferry, around 1,000 cooperatives in Central Java and East Java are ready to begin operations.

“After the museum inauguration, the President will visit the village cooperatives and symbolically launch their operations in Central Java and East Java,” Ferry said during a national coordination meeting at the Ministry of Cooperatives in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 13, as quoted by Antara.
