TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, referred to the 2026 Economic Census (SE) as a crucial instrument for evaluating the real conditions of the national and regional economies. She noted, "The economic census is like a medical check-up or medical record for the economy," during a briefing on the 2026 Economic Census at Korpri Square, Lampung Governor's Office, Bandarlampung, on Saturday, June 27, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

She explained that accurate data derived from the census will be the basis for development policies, investment growth, and the empowerment of the business community. Therefore, Amalia encouraged the entire community to actively participate by providing accurate data. "Every piece of information gathered will be a crucial foundation for designing policies that can enhance the welfare of the people," she said.

Furthermore, she expressed her appreciation for the commitment of the Lampung Provincial Government in providing full support for the 2026 Economic Census. She also motivated the 8,619 SE 2026 officers who will be deployed across 15 regencies and cities throughout Lampung Province.

Amalia referred to the census field workers as "data warriors" who play a pivotal role in determining the success of the census implementation.

Governor of Lampung, Rahmat Mirzani Djausal, emphasized that quality development must commence with valid data. The Lampung Provincial Government is providing full backing for this national agenda, which is held once every ten years.

According to Rahmat, quality and targeted development start with accurate data. "Without complete and accurate data, it is difficult for us to make decisions or formulate targeted policies," he said.

He assessed that the 2026 Economic Census plays a crucial role in portraying the overall economic conditions of the region. The resulting data will form the basis for formulating more effective, inclusive, and sustainable economic development policies.

Rahmat stated that Lampung Province holds significant economic potential across various sectors, ranging from agriculture, plantations, fisheries, manufacturing, trade, and tourism, to millions of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

According to him, the success of development is not solely measured by high economic growth. Beyond that, Rahmat stated that the success of development is also seen in how much the people benefit through the creation of jobs, increased income, and the strengthening of community-owned businesses.
