Harry Kane Breaks Gary Lineker's England World Cup Scoring Record

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Harry Kane has once again made history with the England national team after breaking Gary Lineker's record as the Three Lions' all-time leading scorer at the World Cup.

The record was set after Kane scored a goal in a 2-0 victory over Panama in the final Group L match of the 2026 World Cup at New York Stadium, United States, on Sunday, May 26.

This goal marked Kane's 11th in the World Cup finals. The Bayern Munich striker has now officially surpassed Gary Lineker's record of 10 goals, establishing himself as England's all-time leading scorer at the tournament.

Previously, Kane equaled Lineker's record thanks to his two goals in England's 4-2 victory over Croatia in their opening Group L match.

In the match against Panama, the England captain secured his place at the top of England's World Cup scoring charts by heading in Jude Bellingham's cross for the Three Lions' second goal.

Kane himself has made 117 appearances and scored 82 goals for England since his debut in March 2015.

In addition to guiding England to the round of 32 as Group L winners, this goal also kept Kane in contention for the 2026 World Cup Golden Boot. By the end of the group stage, he had scored three goals.
