Police Search Juanda Customs Office over Illegal Imports

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Corps of the Indonesian National Police (Kortastipidkor Polri) conducted a thorough search at the Juanda Customs Office located on Jalan Raya Juanda, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java. The raid took place on Wednesday afternoon, June 24, 2026, and involved fully armed Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel.

The Director of Enforcement at Kortastipidkor Polri, Brigadier General Robertus Yohanes De Deo, stated that the search was connected to an ongoing investigation into a case of illegal importation. "Related to illegal importation," Robertus said when contacted for confirmation on Wednesday.

The search operation was estimated to have commenced in the morning hours and continued until Wednesday afternoon. Robertus, however, was unwilling to disclose the details of the illegal importation case currently being scrutinized by Kortastipidkor Polri.

Prior to this operation, the Smuggling Law Enforcement Task Force of the Indonesian National Police had uncovered rampant illegal importation practices involving smuggled cellular phones. The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police had previously searched the offices of PT TSL in Gedangan, Sidoarjo, East Java. That raid was a development from earlier searches carried out across several warehouses in Jakarta.

From those search results, investigators seized a massive cache of evidence, including approximately 50,000 units of iPhones and Android smartphones, alongside various spare parts valued at around Rp250 billion. Additionally, baby supplies amounting to 256,300 units worth roughly Rp3 billion were confiscated. The total value of the evidence seized by the investigative team in that broader case is estimated to reach Rp253,075,600,000.
