TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prince William marked his 44th birthday on Sunday, June 21, 2026, which coincided with Father’s Day, as members of the British royal family shared personal messages and photographs celebrating the occasion across official social media accounts.
The Prince of Wales was featured in a photograph wearing his Welsh Guards ceremonial uniform alongside his daughter, Princess Charlotte, 11. The image was taken in the garden of Kensington Palace shortly after the Trooping the Colour ceremony last weekend, which traditionally marks the monarch’s official birthday.
According to the BBC, the picture was shared with a message from the Princess of Wales and their children reading: “Happy birthday and Father’s Day to the best Papa in the World! We love you very much,” signed “C, G, C & L.” The photograph was captured by royal photographer Matt Porteous, who has frequently documented official and private moments of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The celebration also came during a week in which Prince William appeared at Royal Ascot alongside Catherine, Princess of Wales, in one of her more high-profile public engagements since undergoing cancer treatment in 2024.
King Charles III also joined the public tributes, sharing a photograph of himself with Prince William during a joint engagement at the Natural History Museum in London in October 2025. The visit marked preparations linked to the COP30 climate summit and highlighted their shared environmental commitments.
Separately, Father’s Day messages were also posted by Buckingham Palace, including a historical image of King Charles as a young Royal Air Force pilot alongside his father, Prince Philip, taken at Cranwell Air Base in 1971. The post carried a message reflecting on fathers and those remembering them.
King Charles also shared a message on the royal family’s official social media account stating: “Celebrating all Fathers, and thinking of those who wish they could be with their Dads, today.”
In another post marking Father’s Day, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, shared a family image of Prince Harry with their children, Archie and Lilibet, writing: “They’re so lucky to have you. We all are.”
Vanity Fair reported that Prince William’s birthday and Father’s Day overlap prompted coordinated tributes from across different branches of the royal family, including messages from both the Prince of Wales’ household and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The publication also noted that Prince Harry and Meghan are expected to visit the United Kingdom next month with their children, a trip that could potentially allow for a meeting with King Charles, although no confirmation has been made.
The King last saw his grandchildren during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
